INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE: “SMART CITY FROM SOCIO-ECONOMIC PERSPECTIVE: THE PRACTICE OF EUROPE AND VIETNAM”

01/06/2020

Smart city is a trend of urban development in recent years, especially in developed countries, characterized by the achievements of technology 4.0, such as Internet of Things (IoT), big data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), etc. These achievements are applied to urban management, natural resources and environment management, providing good services to the people. The European Union has promoted smart city programs through investment in information technology under the Digital Agenda for Europe (DAE) to improve the quality of public services and quality of life and gained some achievements. However, the development of smart cities also raises many socio-economic issues relating to economic structure, employment, public finance, consumer trends, aging population and environment.

Vietnam is now beginning to discuss the construction of smart cities in some localities in order to apply 4.0 technological achievements in urban management. However, Vietnam will have to face many obstacles and must address the challenges posed on that path. Therefore, learning from European experience is extremely important in helping Vietnam implement smart city building programs. For that purpose, the international conference “Smart city from socio-economic perspective: the practice of Europe and Vietnam” will focus on discussing issues related to smart city development in Europe and Vietnam.

The Institute for European Studies cordially invite researchers to submit paper to the conference, focusing on the following topics:
