SCIENTIFIC SEMINAR: "Azerbaijan in the past, present and Vietnam - Azerbaijan relations"

In order to enhance the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Vietnam, on the morning of February 28th, 2020, at the 12th floor Hall, Building B, No. 1 Lieu Giai, Ba Dinh, Hanoi, the Institute for European Studies (IES) - Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences in collaboration with the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Vietnam organized a scientific seminar with the theme: "Azerbaijan in the past, present and Vietnam - Azerbaijan relations".

Attending the seminar, there were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Vitenam, H. E. Mr. Anar Imanov and staff working at the embassy. Joining the seminar with Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Chien Thang, Director of the Institute for European Studies were Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Tuan, Director of Vietnam Economic Institute; Dr. Le Xuan Sang, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Economic Institute, Dr. Phi Vinh Tuong, Deputy Director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics, the representatives of Center for Azerbaijani History and Culture Studies and all the researchers and staff working at IES.

At the seminar, the delegates heard the presentation of Ambassador Anar Imanov about the history and a present picture of Azerbaijan as well as the cooperation between Vietnam and Azerbaijan in recent years. Dr. Vu Thuy Trang, Director of the Center for Russian and CIS Studies (IES) gave a presentation on "Azerbaijan-Vietnam relations in a new international context: Problems and solutions". The paper focused on analyzing new changes in the world and the region, their impacts on both Azerbaijan and Vietnam. Dr. Vu Thuy Trang also pointed out the outstanding achievements, as well as the limitations, proposed some solutions to further promote cooperation between the two countries in the future. The issues raised during the seminar attracted the attention of scholars and researchers. The discussions focused on solutions to further strengthen the relationship between Azerbaijan and Vietnam, especially in the fields of economics, education and training, which are currently facing many difficulties.

Closing speech of the seminar, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Chien Thang, Director of IES thanked the Ambassador for his useful presentation, as well as for his love and dedication to strengthen bilateral relations between two countries in general and to support the Institute for European Studies in particular. The seminar ended successfully, promising concrete, practical and effective cooperation activities in the coming time to contribute to further promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership of Vietnam - Azerbaijan in the future.
