The Initiative “Alliance for Multilateralism”: Realities and Prospects

Abstract: Initiated by France and Germany, the “Alliance for Multilateralism” has been launched for less than a year but it has initially attracted the attention and participation of many countries around the world at various levels. Many people argue that this initiative poses the “right answer” to overcome shortcomings and gaps of the contemporary multilateralism, while others assert that it has some inherent challenges which need to be dealt with in order to be truly viable and efficient. On that basis, this article provides an outline of key developments and contents of the “Alliance for Multilateralism”, thereby drawing related comments and assessments on the essence, characteristics and prospect of this initiative in the coming period

Direct democracy in Switzerland

Abstract: Direct democracy appeared early in the organization and exercise of political power in the world. In recent decades, the trend of intensification of direct democracy is taking place in all regions, especially in European countries. Switzerland is considered a country that conducts the construction and implementation of direct democratic elements. The paper analyzes the implementation of direct democracy in Switzerland on the aspects of the legal framework of direct democracy in this country.

The reforms of Greece’s social insurance system

Abstract: Greece is strongly affected by the global financial crisis and Europe’s public debt. The Greek government had to ask regional and world financial institutions to provide huge bailout packages to resume its economy. Greece is required by creditors to enforce austerity policies such as cutting public spending, increasing VAT and consumption tax, especially social insurance reform policy. This paper analyzes the reforms of Greece’s social insurance system that contributes to limiting the impact of its goverment debt crisis

Building an online mediation platform in Europe and some suggestions for Vietnam

Abstract: E-commerce is now becoming the largest and fastest growing market in the world. In order to promote e-commerce development, Europe build the trust for the parties involved by building a mechanism for resolving disputes by mediation. The paper analyzes European legal regulations and practices on online mediation, based on which some suggestions are proposed for Vietnam.

5. NGUYEN VAN SANG

Tadeusz Kosciuszko - A Polish hero in the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783)

Abstract: Tadeusz Kosciuszko (1746-1817) was not only a Polish hero, but also an American hero in the American Revolutionary War. Volunteering for leaving his motherland, Kosciuszko fought for freedom as an engineer, fortification specialist in the colonial army. He stood out for his contributions to the construction of military forts that made important victories of the colonial army in defending Philadelphia, the Batle of Saratoga and the Batle of West Point. The article analyzes the process of Kosciuszko's arrival, participation and contribution to the American Revolution War. The study of Kosciuszko's works will contribute to the understanding of the roles of international volunteer soldiers in the American War of Independence.

Basic adjustments of Russia’s migration policy in recent years

Abstract: In 2019, Russia has become the fourth largest country in the world to receive immigrants. Concerned about the challenges of migration, Russia has made important adjustments in the migration policy to stabilize socio-economic development as well as to ensure national security in the current period. The paper focuses on the basic aspects of Russia’s migration policy adjustment in recent years and analyzes the effects of such adjustments on the perception of immigrants in general, the adaptation of Vietnamese community in the Russian Federation in particular.

EU market: Potentials for exporting of the Central Highlands’ pepper in the context of implementing EVFTA

Abstract: The EVFTA signed between Vietnam and the European Union is opening up great potentials for exporting of Vietnam’s agricultural products in general and of the Central Highlands region in particular. However, in order to take advantage of this agreement, Central Highlands’ enterprises must have a better kwowledge and understanding of EU’s market regulations, its demand for agricultural products and distribution channels as well. Based on the analysis of the current situation Central Highlands region’s pepper production and its export volume to the EU market, the paper make some recommendations for improving the market

 

8. NGUYEN THI THOM & LE THI HOA

Main objectives and some initial results for Vietnam after implementing FTA with EAEU

Abstract: The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) was signed by representatives of the governments on May 29th, 2015 and officially came into effect on October 5th, 2016. After over 3 years of implementation, the results achieved from this FTA have gradually been clearly shown. The paper focuses on analyzing the basic objectives and initial results in trade exchange when implementing FTAs between Vietnam and EAEU countries, assessing successes and limitations, thereby proposing some solutions to make better use of opportunities, overcome the limitations of this agreement in the coming years.
